Job Summary

The reconciliation specialist will be responsible for reconciling general ledger accounts to source documents, identifying differences and working to resolve issues. Current processes are manual in nature and individual will be expected to work to streamline these, including working with IT to automate them as much as possible. Individual must be able to document changes to procedures and ensure internal controls remain in place and functioning as intended.

Essential Functions

  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledge accounts.
  • Set up and make changes to vendors for accounts payable, and to attorneys and adjusters for claims and inspectors for the Underwriting Department.
  • File reports for unclaimed property to all states using Tracker System, and maintain Tracker reports on a daily basis.
  • Verify positive pay and voids on a daily basis.
  • Prepare month end journal vouchers.
  • Process opening of new bank accounts and keep bank information updated.

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in accounting or other business field required with a minimum of five years’ experience working in an accounting environment.
  • Must have knowledge of general ledger and reconciliations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (macro creation) required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to reconcile multiple accounts efficiently
  • Ability to analyze large volumes of transactional financial data
  • Proven analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Ability to communicate relevant information to all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and effectiveness working in a team environment
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships and act as a well-respected, trusted partner that others want to work with
