  • Job Summary

    The underwriting clerk compiles data and performs routine clerical tasks to support the underwriting function. Reviews correspondence, records, and reports to select routine matters for processing. Manual processes will evolve into a more technological process.

    Essential Functions

    • Assist department by processing memos, suspending memos, pulling daily mail, etc.
    • Match mail and checks to new business applications and issue policies.
    • Check reports for prior claims.
    • Follow up on items in reports to resolve open issues.
    • Transfer and send applications to processing.
    • Process returned mail.
    • Verify information on applications, etc.
    • Any other duties as necessary and required.

    Job Requirements

    • Knowledge and experience using computers and computer systems to enter data and process information
    • Above average organizational skills
    • Ability to communicate information and ideas orally so others will understand
    • Ability to listen to, and understand, information presented
    • Ability to read and understand information presented in writing
